Each year hundreds of miles of utility lines are placed in the public rights-of-way. The placement of these lines requires the cooperative effort of utility owners, contractors and governmental agencies having the responsibility to coordinate this construction. It is the continuing goal of all parties to place new lines and maintain existing lines with minimal disturbance to existing plant.
Occasionally, damage to plant and other grievances occur as a result of these activities and resulting claims are made between the parties.
The Georgia Utility Coordinating Council (GUCC) has developed an effective, fair, low cost means to settle Inter-utility and Utility/Utility Contractor damage claim disputes. The GUCC Conflict Resolution Board (CRB) has been formed to provide this service to the Utility and Construction industry.
UBS President, Bill Schultz serves as a consultant to the GUCC Conflict Resolution Board and was instumental in formulating the Rules of Process and developing the training seminars for the CRB Hearing Officers.
